miniature guitars

In the early 80's I recall seeing quite a lot of these little shortscale electric guitars that were a very close copy of the Les Paul, but probably one third smaller. I want to know who the manufacturer was.I seem to recall "Sammy" but I don't get any useful results from searching "sammy guitars".

On the back cover of Heart earliest greatest hits album there are two of these guitars.

I think the kid in Musical Youth was playing the Stratocaster copy by the same brand. (this was long before those children's sized Fender Strats.

I hope someone out there can remember the guitars,

Yeah, I remember them. Eddie Van Halen used one on the song "Little Guitars".

Well that's talking about Eddie's tiny guitar being custom made. Heart's guitars were probably custom, too. The maker I'm thinking of was mass producing the things. They had a half-dozen of them in a small music store in Charleston SC around 1983... Perhaps I'll see if I can find that store online, if they still exist.

I believe you might be thinking of Samick guitars, formerly a Korean co. but now operated in N. America, by some guy named Greg Benet (I think). Just a cusory Googling for --Samick mini small-- brought this up:

That could be it, but it seems like I saw a very close copy to a les paul, two pickups and les style headstock. Thanks for pulling that up, it's the closest thing I've seen yet.

You know, Epiphone made a "Les Paul PeeWee" for a while. It's a whacky little guitar - I've recently found one locally available and I'm considering purchasing it for fun.
