Radiohead OK Computer - it's nearly ten years old and still the cd-case, despite having been through the wars, still feels it only just came out in the shops.

hang on, though, this isn't seriously a thread about if the cd case is in good nick?

EARLY-90S MAN (Enrique), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 12:01 (nineteen years ago)

i was gonna make a joke about how the carpenters greatest hits felt like it was brand new cuz it never left the case. rofffles!

white album

Arnar Eggert Thoroddsen (arnart1802), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 13:51 (nineteen years ago)

I'm going to interpret this as music that's "timeless" and not how clean the CD/record case looks, because then that only covers crappy music for me.

Orb - Ultraworld
Oval - 94diskont
White Album seconded.

No. Don't be stupid.

wogan lenin (dog latin), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 13:56 (nineteen years ago)

let's pause for a minute and think about how the orb's '...ultraworld' hasn't dated ONE LITTLE BIT, OHHHH NO.

EARLY-90S MAN (Enrique), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 13:56 (nineteen years ago)

I was saying that for some reason the design still looks fresh to me whereas often I'll have an album a couple of weeks and it starts blending in with the background. The design isn't impprtant, so much as the album as a whole is fresh in my mind (e.g. I remember buying it when it came out and interviews with Radiohead on the radio and stuff).

wogan lenin (dog latin), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 13:58 (nineteen years ago)

ah, yeh apologies NRQ, my question wasn't very well thought out.

wogan lenin (dog latin), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 13:59 (nineteen years ago)

i think 'ok computer' has aged well, but i'd not for a second think of it as new.

EARLY-90S MAN (Enrique), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 14:01 (nineteen years ago)

i like the question actually

particulary now that you've clarified it with the remark " often I'll have an album a couple of weeks and it starts blending in with the background". happens often. it's a pity when you start of with a sparkling new cd that after only a few listens blends into your collection like furniture.

Charlie Howard (the sphinx), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 14:05 (nineteen years ago)

the hell?

EARLY-90S MAN (Enrique), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 14:07 (nineteen years ago)

j'etais en train d'indiquer que parfois on achete une nouvelle disque qu'apres un certain temps arrive a sembler bien moins interessante que d'autres disques qu'on avait depuis des annees.

Charlie Howard (the sphinx), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 14:12 (nineteen years ago)

that's what i mean, charlie, yes.

wogan lenin (dog latin), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 14:35 (nineteen years ago)

i assume you mean the english.
the french is just paraphrasing what i said in english anyway. :)

ugly packaging can unfortunately make a difference to how a cd slots into the collection as well. a nice remastered copy of your favourite sabbath album, for instance, will look a damn sight prettier than an 'original masters' copy converted to disc in 1987.
