the new Subtle single sounds like an anticonned-up version of "Toxic"

It's called "The Mercury Craze", it's up on their myspace, and I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO IT. tell me I'm not alone in my anticipation of this album, ILX!

you can listen to more songs on http://www.subtle6.com/

one of their members, Dax pierson, works (worked?) at the Amoeba Records and was in a serious car accident and is now paralyzed :(

yeah, I know. real bummer. I actually found didn't know they had a new album coming out until I saw this article about Dax a couple months ago.

that's really good to hear. i just remember getting those amoeba newsletters talking about his accident and asking for donations, but i never heard any of the good news.

Album is great. Dudes are going the Animal Collective/Deerhoof/Liars route of experimental musicians and getting more into melody, and it sounds great!

getting more into melody

Aiming for that Geir seal of approval.

i enjoyed the album a great deal, and the dudes are all really nice guys if you ever meet them.

There's an awesome Soft Pink Truth remix of "Mercury Craze" as well. Really looking forward to the album- Subtle are by far the best thing to come out of the whole Anticon/Mush/etc style.

This sounds really good. The drums at the start remind me of those on Iggy Pop's "Nightclubbing".

It arrived along with download codes for like 4 other awesome records on Ratskin, stickers, a patch (!), assorted other treasures. Made my day, highly recommend if you're down to spend $10.

So far have listened to the Yama Uba and Lexagon, really excellent stuff I would not have heard otherwise (actually, I had heard "I'm in love with a German film star" somewhere.)

Lexagon is great!
