Is there an easy way to reverse or negate the static charge on a vinyl record?

noticed i have several pristine records that nonetheless attract dust, must, and those little paper sleeve shreds like magnets. sometimes you can even feel the field with your hand. blow off the dustbunnies and they jump back on, the attraction is so strong. but then other records seem to repulse this sort of fluff and stay real clean.

so does anyone know of a good method to get rid of static? anti-static plastic record sleeves are an idea, but i kind of hate those. are there any sprays or techniques out there to discharge static?

What about a good ol' carbon fiber brush?

i swear i use swiffer and a cheap-ass discwasher like radio shack was selling in 1979 for all my record-care needs. isopropanol is your friend! if you clean a record correctly it won't have that unsightly static cling.

did you use a regular brush like a Discwasher, or something better like a Gemini or Audioquest carbon fiber model? You want a brush with thousands of little fibers to reach into the grooves. And some models (like the Gemini I've got) are self-cleaning--every time you swivel it back into its handle the brush passes over a ridge that knocks all the dust and particles off. They last a long time and don't cost a ton. $15-30 should do it.

hmm, that link doesn't seem to work now. Go to Insound and look up AcousTech carbon fiber brush.
