Pixies in everyday situations...

It's the weirdest thing...I've been hearing Pixies' songs everywhere...I was at Buffalo Wild Wings when 'Dig For Fire' was played...There was a stripper pole-dancing to "Where is My Mind?"...I heard "Here Comes Your Man" played between innings at a baseball game on TV.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

The Pixies are a pretty popular band, dude.

i thought this would be like, "how would black francis return a book to the library?" or "kim deal does laundry"

buffalo wild wings, strip club "everyday situations" only in my wildest fantasies

a|ex (Pareene), Friday, 29 September 2006 17:35 (nineteen years ago)

Gigantic while I was jacking it.

Bone Machine while I was having sex with my landlord.

Umass while I was studying

No 13 while I was in the tattoo parlor

Gouge Away while I was cutting myself

La La Love You while I was giving birth

There was a stripper pole-dancing to "Where is My Mind?"

I can't even fathom this.

Fight Club has a lot to answer for.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 29 September 2006 17:41 (nineteen years ago)

it sounds like a hold steady lyric

Where is my mind?
Here is my vagina
But where is my mind?

Young Fresh Danny D (Dan Perry), Friday, 29 September 2006 17:45 (nineteen years ago)

You just can't imagine it, can you?

Mr. Que (Mr.Que), Friday, 29 September 2006 17:45 (nineteen years ago)

You can't - mind you "Something Against You", or "Tame"....

Si.C@rter (SiC@rter), Friday, 29 September 2006 17:59 (nineteen years ago)

I can totally imagine it.

Mr. Que (Mr.Que), Friday, 29 September 2006 17:59 (nineteen years ago)

Bahahahhaaha

Punk Juice (Bimble...), Saturday, 30 September 2006 02:47 (nineteen years ago)

listened to doolittle on itunes the other day

pretty banal, everyday sort of occasion

Charlie Howard (the sphinx), Sunday, 1 October 2006 04:54 (nineteen years ago)

Right, Kim Deal doing the laundry as was said upthread, and Black Francis with the lawnmower outside. Santiago is late for work at a 9 to 5, and Lovering can't find his car keys. It's the new reality Pixies TV show, folks. It's going to beat Ozzy, just watch.

John Cougar Mellencamp sucks and you know it (Bimble...), Sunday, 1 October 2006 11:10 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, well, it's not lije I've ever heard Pixies on the radio...the point being that they turned into this classic band (very deservedly mind you) without anyone I really know ever hearing of them...well, actually, more like listening to them. Like I heard them in all of those places, but they still don't get played on the radio, I'm still really the only person I know with multiple Pixies albums. Granted I have friends with questionable tastes (doubtless why they're friends with me) but still...at a baseball game?! Sharing speakers with Survivor and Kool and the Gang?! (nothing wrong with KatG) Just seems weird to me.

Destroy A. Monsters (Destroy A. Monsters), Monday, 2 October 2006 18:48 (nineteen years ago)

the amps were better than the pixies

gear (gear), Monday, 2 October 2006 18:56 (nineteen years ago)

maybe, if the pixies had influenced some commercially more successful acts, they'd be better known.

the classic sounds of the seventh of january 1998 (Enrique), Monday, 2 October 2006 18:58 (nineteen years ago)

I can just see Kim thumbing through the new issue of "Cat Fancy" while she waits for the clothes to dry.

Destroy A. Monsters (Destroy A. Monsters), Monday, 2 October 2006 18:59 (nineteen years ago)

gee classic sounds, you think so?
