and then i was emailing w/the lovefingers dude and he said this: "Yeah the balearic thing is a little ridiculous... I mean what it really is all about is smooth shit that sounds good when your on E in Ibiza... Whatever... I mean, I guess it pretty much means whatever harvey plays, ha. lovefingers has some great taste, but I wouldn't look to him for the definition of balearic.

Why aren't there more comps of classic Balearic in print, anyway? It feels like the focus is only on new artists and the only thing we have about the history of the genre is that Bill Brewster list.

there are a couple blogs out there that sort of seem to specialize in old balearic-ish stuff--plaidmusic for example, and jolyon greens now thats what i call balearic, though that hasnt been updated in a while

I think I remember reading that most of his records were hard to come by in the UK and and Europe due to only being released in Japan. I think the sleeve notes of the Mastercuts comp say this. Can't be sure though.

that synth line is so good that it makes it all the goofy vocals and sensual grinding and insistent menace actually work. together. all at once.
