Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy (Kerr), Thursday, 12 October 2006 23:04 (nineteen years ago)

That'll be 77% of ILM then.

The Real Esteban Buttez (EstieButtez1), Thursday, 12 October 2006 23:08 (nineteen years ago)

More like 77% will be disappointed it's not a serious site.

lol @ "spontaneous jams"

Hoosteen (Hoosteen), Friday, 13 October 2006 02:19 (nineteen years ago)

If the point of that was to be funny, it's a failure. And since I'm sure that was the point, there is no point.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 13 October 2006 03:36 (nineteen years ago)

Indeed.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy (Kerr), Friday, 13 October 2006 07:17 (nineteen years ago)

How can anyone think that this woman Ani DiFranco is at all deserving of fans -- especially when we have higher-caliber Major Label artists like Jewel who was around long before?

Um.

Furthermore, what Major Label in their right mind would sign even more bands that sound exactly like the original punk pioneers, Green Day? We've already got one -- why do we need another one? I admit, we should allow for some amount of diversity, and Bad Religion is a likely secondary candidate.

Um um.

The Mad Puffin (The Mad Puffin), Friday, 13 October 2006 16:46 (nineteen years ago)

way to go encyclopedia brown!

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 13 October 2006 16:47 (nineteen years ago)

When the music industry began, there was an established line between "amateur" and "professional" that should have never been crossed. Back in the old days, if musicians were good, they'd get a record deal.

This guy is completely ignoring the fact that today, image and looks means more than musical talent if you want a deal, and the true talented musicians are more likely to end up on indies....

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 13 October 2006 21:23 (nineteen years ago)

Uh, not exactly.

It's all about ideas and it's the less risky ideas that gets an act signed up by a major record label.

(But it sure helps if you've got big knockers.)

a name means a lot just by itself (lfam), Saturday, 14 October 2006 05:08 (nineteen years ago)

music is fine, it's just the publicists mainly who ruin old music for us and journalists who ruin new music for the rest.

corey c (shock of daylight), Wednesday, 18 October 2006 06:49 (nineteen years ago)

How many years left until we rename "indie music" anyway? Wasn't it essentially the word that replaced "alternative"?

Next up, I say we call it "Internet Rock" because, hey, most of these bands do get discussed on the internet a lot and don't get enough attention in the mainstream media. Or how about "E-Rock"? Guys?

Cunga (Cunga), Wednesday, 18 October 2006 07:14 (nineteen years ago)

fuck music, publicists are the FUTURE

Thomas Tallis (Tommy), Wednesday, 18 October 2006 11:49 (nineteen years ago)
