Matt to thread!
http://www.gangstahaiku.com/
this might be old hat since they have posts going back to 1999, but i still think it's pretty funny/cool (didn't see a thread on it).
and not to be confused with MC Haiku who i received spam about today:
"The album art includes the words written by American author William Gass, “The blue we bathe in is the blue we breathe. The blue we breathe, I fear, is what we want from life and only find in fiction. For the voyeur, fiction is what’s called going all the way”. We can assume that Gass’ words inspired the record, which stays true to the blue with other tracks like “Betty Blue”, and “Dunce Cap Blues”. Bonafyde Recordings tells us that the video for “Blue” will hit screens near you soon, and the word is that it smokes.
The issues that are addressed on Blew are a big step away from what you would normally expect from a hip-hop album, and even the way Haiku arrived on the scene is more unconventional than what would be expected from a hip-hop artist. Where much of today’s mainstream hip-hop boasts girls, money, and cars, Blew is humbly influenced by every day situations. Haiku takes an honestly witty and emotional approach to his music, and his newest effort will appeal to both listeners who respect artists like Tupac, The Wu-Tang Clan, and even Aesop Rock. After testing out the waters by making mix-tapes for friends to freestyle on, Haiku slowly began to realize he was the true MC in his crew, and soon traded in his turntables for a microphone."
