Album being featured (i.e. played) at Fopp.

Gruss gott! If there isn't an album more aptly described as "what a disappointing second album by the Arctic Monkeys would sound like if they made one" then I don't want to know.

The words and delivery are aping. But more of the 'I'm in torment' rather than "this world" is. The music is more (but less) of the same.

Button down! There will be more (but less) of the same, I'm quite sure!

ah but he won't have heard them.

I can see how they succeeded as in "got signed"

Exec: "What are you like?"
Band: "Exactly like the Arctic Monkeys"
Exec: "Righto, you're signed."

their pr claimed tenuous social connexion with der arctics.

benrique (Enrique), Friday, 13 October 2006 08:58 (nineteen years ago)

That's worse!

If I was best pals with the arctics and ran my own band, it'd go against every fibre of my being to sound like them.

If I was in the arctics, I'd hate this band to play support at gigs, as the audience would be bored by having "more of the same but better" after 1 hr of "the same but less so"

prs often do it. the beta band's early hype hinged on some nick maccabe (of ver verve) connection.

wish i had flogged their pre-major label promos last year - they were fetching serious money

.. now that people have realised how crap they are, i suspect they'll be charity shop fodder.

that's an intriguing insight into... insanity.

benrique (Enrique), Friday, 13 October 2006 09:23 (nineteen years ago)

now that people have realised how crap they are

Have they though? I need to know for the same reasons as you.

well, the printed reviews i've seen have been pretty damning. i've not heard the album, just a few tracks, and that's enough for me thanks.

I kinda feel sorry for them now. Now *everyone* seems to rate them as crap. All that work to come to this?

Come on someone! Defend them!

isn't it a fact that the Monkeys used to support milburn . and this is how they got their break, hence there is now a level of attrition between the bands - or is that a pr spin that i have been suckered into believing ?
