If memory of the NAPA State video serves, Bryan Gregory actually does the guitar solo on "TV Set".

aw man that "i hate the rich" one is sooooo great but i would say that the fucking kickass break on "you're not blank" is even better.

"i heard her call my name"
falconi OTM
pretty much anything the wipers did during their awesomest stretch
"action woman" by the litter
"last time around" by the del-vettes
quine OTM
"You & You" by DNA
tons of Drive Like Jehu but especially "if it kills you"
"communication breakdown"
"primitive zippo" by monoshock
"boredom"/"cinammon girl" in battle royale for one-note superiority

many others

Andy Kerr or Rob Wright (Nomeasno), guitar solo in "Two lips, two lungs and one tongue", especially the live version on "Live and Cuddly."

lexurian (lexurian), Tuesday, 17 October 2006 07:19 (nineteen years ago)

"One-note supremacy": also see "L.A.M.F." and, I think, "Give Me Back My Wig" by Hound Dog Taylor and the Houserockers.

A Radio Picture (Rrrickey), Tuesday, 17 October 2006 07:33 (nineteen years ago)

Vocal: Buddy Rich, bus tapes

Ha!

boney james and the shondells (teenagequiet), Tuesday, 17 October 2006 12:01 (nineteen years ago)

Robert Acosta (Rob 77), Wednesday, 18 October 2006 20:02 (nineteen years ago)

Howbout synthesizers?
Dave Greenfield's crazy Minimoog freakout in the Stranglers' "Nice n Sleazy" is one of the best I've heard. Also one of the earliest, again depending on how you define "punk" and "solo".
