Mmm, Sweden's Garmarna play lots 'n lots of hurdy-gurdy, inna folk-rockin'-folkin' live context ...Depends what one'd call "electric hurdy-gurdy", I guess :-/

meaning, a hurdy gurdy that you plug in when you play it.

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 18 October 2006 15:09 (nineteen years ago)

Well YEAH! Garmarna's guys - sometimes two 0'them at once - plug in their gurdy's, like, *totally*! :)

their "gamen" song is really good.

Lots of their Hildegard von Bingen covers (amongst lotsa other stuff) are tops, too!
I've seen them live just twice. The first time was years ago at a festival in Tallinn, where they played pretty much a blinder. Complete with the two-hurdy-axmen-rockin-the-frontstage stance and 'rything.
The second time was last year in my hometown. I took both my kids to the gig, and'vrything, alas that gig wasn't very good at all.

Sting sometimes plays him a mean hurdy-gurdy.

But only on special occasions.
