Y'know the old chestnut about there only being seven stories ever. Well it's gotta be true for lyrics too, e.g.:

Tiffany, I think We're Alone Now
Radiohead, Exit Music for a Film:

Old folks getting us down, let's run away (and optionally top ourselves).

Depeche Mode, Enjoy the Silence
Extreme, More than Words:

Shut up and put out.

manowar - kings of metal

lyrical excerpt:

"We don't attract wimps 'cause we're too loud
Just true metal people that's Manowar's crowd"

manowar - metal warriors (brothers of metal part I)

lyrical excerpt:

"Heavy metal or no metal at all wimps and posers leave the hall
Heavy metal or no metal at all wimps and posers go on get out"

basically, these songs lay down the law for fans and non fans alike, uniting manowar with those partial to the band's output (read: pimply faced, greasy haired, body odour emitting metalheads), and dismissing the non converted (read: everyone else)

"temples of syrinx" and "she bop"...both archetypal stories of female masturbation

Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out
Fugazi - Margin Walker

Both use snipers as a metaphor for courtship.

There's always fat bob:

Plainsong (Oh no, my girlfriend is suicidally depressive)
Just Like Heaven (Woops, my suicidally depressive girlfriend just topped herself)
Pictures of You (Sigh, I never got over my suicidally depressive girlfriend topping herself)
