Seriously. I have always wondered this. Does it have something to do wtih the mechanics of puppetiering (sp)?

shookout (shookout), Friday, 20 October 2006 16:12 (nineteen years ago)

wot's drum brit-style?

i was told by a session drummer that i drum 'brit style'..that is to say: i am right handed, but i do not cross arms to play the hi-hat with my right hand (although i can..i've always just been more comfortable with the open, 'brit style') it causes some problems, cause i like my ride cymbal on the left...it might be called something else tho

I thought you meant badly

Diddumsismus (Dada), Friday, 20 October 2006 16:56 (nineteen years ago)

xpost: by no means. animal is great. like keith moon made out of yarn

J. Grizzle (trainsmoke), Friday, 20 October 2006 16:58 (nineteen years ago)

oh, that makes sense. brit style looks more fightery and punk then.

Does Big Bird count as a muppet? Using underground google image search technology, I found a picture of him playing guitar.....RIGHT-HANDED!

Does Big Bird count as a muppet?

Well he's playing guitar right-handed so he can't be

Diddumsismus (Dada), Friday, 20 October 2006 17:19 (nineteen years ago)

Zach, thats just a plastic figurine. In no way does it represent the concrete reality of Muppetdom.

J. Grizzle (trainsmoke), Friday, 20 October 2006 17:21 (nineteen years ago)

that's not a muppet, that's an action figure!

This thread is beginning to blow my mind.

"why do muppets always and only play guitar left-handed?"

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 20 October 2006 17:33 (nineteen years ago)

It's a Cobain hommage.

The Mad Puffin (The Mad Puffin), Friday, 20 October 2006 17:49 (nineteen years ago)

It is due to the orientation of the hands up their butt

the Adversary (but, still, a friend of yours) (Uri Frendimein), Friday, 20 October 2006 17:54 (nineteen years ago)

Puppeteer's dominant right hand work's the Muppet's head, so left hand has to be used for strumming/picking.

New question: Why are Muppets puppeteers always and only right-handed?

Zachary Scott (Zach S), Friday, 20 October 2006 19:07 (nineteen years ago)

Is this more of your Clem Cattini hate, Dada?

Uh, just click the youtube like and then watch the Prince on the Muppet Show clips on the "Related" section to the right. That's what we should all be doing anyway. IT SHOWS ACTUAL FOOTAGE OF THE WRITING OF "STARFISH AND COFFEE"!!! No joke. Anybody have any clue when those clips are from?

matt2 (matt2), Saturday, 21 October 2006 00:51 (nineteen years ago)

The writing of Starfish and Coffee is in Pt 2 btw. And it must be around the time of his "emancipation" because it includes The Symbol. And when asked if he'd consider working with a dummy he delivers the line, "I already have, but in my business they're called executives," then he looks directly in the camera and gives the gas face. Classic stuff.

Left-handed musicians, be they muppet drummers or mophead bassists, must leave their right hands free to beat their wives.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Saturday, 21 October 2006 01:59 (nineteen years ago)

RE muppet drummers: animal is clearly a keith moon homage, all the way down to his head movements when he plays.

A great zen master once attained enlightenment as a result of contemplating this question for several years.

Must have something to do with the Swedish cook. Mind you, the Swedish book store owner in "Top Secret" did everything backwards.
