Help Identify A Song ( Purple Rain)

Sometime in the 80's the movie Purple Rain was released, in the movie Prince's father play a haunting melody on the piano as Prince walks into the basement to confront him for hitting his mother, does anyone know the name of the song or where I can find it. I have already looked for his father (Nelson L. Rogers) but I have not been able to fond much except that his father was in a jazz band called the Prince Rogers Jazz Band or something like that. Thanks a million.
