catchy extreme metal

there's surprisingly a lot of this

hypocrisy's self titled record was fantastic. really tight, well-produced, infectious songs.

'heartwork' by carcass is another example. the hooks on this one are so tasteful, i sometimes think i'm listening to a rock record. really groovy and far and away more palatable than anything by, say, meshuggah (who, for different reasons are a good band anyway)

Death "symbolic" is what comes to mind for me.

"more than words"

duh

Were Pantera extreme enough to count as extreme metal? Because Vulgar Display of Power is pretty damn catchy.

i was actually going to mention death! and 'symbolic' is a fine example. 'individual thought patterns' hits the mark for me too.

hahah can't argue with 'more than words' in the catchy stakes

and pantera i'm happy to go along with, and agree with the catchy tag if only because of 'walk' and 'hollow'

I love Dragonforce. Hate me for it.

"Regular people" as well. When that riff kicks in I always want to boogie.

dragonforce's 'sonic firestorm' was definitely a winner in the realm of power metal.

i recall the chorus of 'regular people'
DON'T FUCK WITH THIS
pretty damn catchy, yes
