About three years ago, in a random search for music I downloaded "I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight" by Richard and Linda Thompson.

Two years ago, I lost my entire mp3 collection. Fortunately, I keep my mp3s filed and catalogued, so I was able to recover them all completely, if tediously. Anyways, I downloaded "Bright Lights" again, but to my complete surprise, I found out that the version I knew and loved was not Richard and Linda Thompson. And quite frankly, that other version was way better. I searched for that version but was never able to find it again. It was just a woman and an acoustic guitar, I think. Does anyone know who this is?

Was it the exact same songs?

There's a very nice version that Ida did - it's a b-side of the poor dumb bird single

I just realized you were talking about the SONG, duh!

I know there are some live/bootleg versions abound (one is even the bonus track on the recent reissue.) Did the woman sound like Thompson?

Linda played this solo on her last tour, so it's possible she recorded a version of it, too, for something. Or maybe you heard a live session version that just sounded like a studio version?
