He deserves a thread. A producer of mastery, sounds clear as morning sun, etc etc. "Persuasive Percussion", the Free Design, maybe the first to see stereo/quadrophonic/whatever the STATE OF THE ART was re: home playback as a compositional/arranging/MUSICAL element seperate from anything strictly "musical", invented the gatefold sleeve by way of copious linernotes, kickass name, yeah!

After some serious thought I'm plumping for classic.

It's pretty cool how he never got into the details of arranging, really, despite leading big bands. He liked to conduct, if necessary, but really he just wanted great musicians to do have a good time playing and to record them as perfectly and entertainingly as possible. I like that.

"PROVOCATIVE PERCUSSION"! This series provided a scary window into his Zionist leanings

I say classic. I use "Persuasive Percussion" to warm up house parties.

Let's not forget: "Dick Hyman". A man has lived a life under that name. Can you say as much? He's about as great as Tony Mottola tho, all jokes aside.
