Don Cab, Zombi, Bardo Pond, but probably the Dead Milkmen would be the finest

the Mummers. the biggest annual parade of mostly straight white males strutting in elaborate drag playing folk instruments who will reflexively punch you in the face if you even think that they might be gay.

Best Artist? Billy Strayhorn. By a coupla miles.

Best not mentioned yet: The Five. They spent much of their mid-80s life in Boston, and their murky late-New Wave rock should have landed them on 4AD (with fellow tourmates Pixies and Throwing Muses.) But anti-Yinzer bias doomed them to obscurity. Or something.

The Cynics are fantastic, and yeah, Hurl did more for me than Don Cab.

bendy, Friday, 30 March 2007 13:37 (nineteen years ago)

Reid Paley, formerly of The Five, wrote the great "I'm Not Dead (I'm In Pittsburgh)" that Frank Black covered last year.

Fitzcarraldo, Friday, 30 March 2007 22:25 (nineteen years ago)

Bloodhound Gang, heh

theoreo, Friday, 30 March 2007 23:28 (nineteen years ago)

Todd Tamanend Clark should be mentioned!
