Where did he get the musical inspiration for this gem?

What a fucking great song!

OH MY GUCKING FOD! YOU BET!!!!!!!!!

That was my fave song of this whole Glass Houses album!!!
And I put it on once at a party when my friend had conceded the DJ spot to me and people loved it...someone asked me what it was...wow. I think I still have that on vinyl...let me look!

Oh my god. I can't find it on vinyl. I've tried and tried. I've looked through everything it's not there. Man, what a fool I was to sell it.

"All For Leyna" is one of those songs that gets namechecked in threads about songs that feature the singer going "STOP!" and the song actually stops for a second.

Great cold last-song-on-side-one song.

"all for leyna" and "sleeping will the television on," from the same album, have this really sugary combination of a bright electric piano (what kind of piano was that anyway?) and a super-distorted rhythm guitar that never fail to make me smile. if he dressed better, this could have been his great glam moment.

other songs from around the same time that remind me of "leyna" include jefferson starship's "jane" and toto's "hold the line."

I always loved how choppy the piano part was and how smoov the bass was at the same time. Kind of like the ocean with the rocks under the waves, you know?

Let's see, on Glass Houses, you had the sound of glass breaking, a number (for the Root Beer Rag office!) being punched into a touchtone phone, and "The Star Spangled Banner" all leading off songs. Did I forget any?

i think i got this record for my 11th birthday. this was my favorite song. fit in perfectly with my 11-year-old idea of what might constitute romance. (looking now at the track listing i guess i must have mostly listened to side 1, because i can't remember how anything on side 2 goes.)

maybe billy joel should only be played for 11-year-olds.

That's pretty much when I started listening to him!

Also see how well "Rosalinda's Eyes" fit into that segment of "Freaks & Geeks".

But I KNOW I've got this on tape somewhere...I know it. A ha! It was in the first shoebox of tapes I tried! What luck!

six years pass...

I love that this song has its own thread.
