This would be so awesome.
I would torrtally go if I were in the northern hemisphere.

Drooone, Monday, 2 April 2007 04:59 (seventeen years ago) link

Book a spot on a slow boat.

excited to see xela!

chaki, Monday, 2 April 2007 17:41 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, that's definitely high on my hit list. Ilyas Ahmed is the main thing for me.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 2 April 2007 18:06 (seventeen years ago) link

been meaning to check out ilyas. what should i start with?

Fetchboy, Monday, 2 April 2007 21:56 (seventeen years ago) link

Hmm, well it depends on what you can find, his stuff goes out of print pretty quickly (I should know, I think I'm helping to single-handedly drive up demand in some corners). Try Century of Moonlight if you can snag it.

not to toot my horn too much, but we're reissuing his first two cd-rs (that were limited to something insane like 50 copies), "towards the night" and "between two skies" as a double CD on digitalis this summer (or sooner if the art gets finished).

brad rose, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 18:51 (seventeen years ago) link

This is a good thing indeed. And hiya Brad!

Sounds fun but I've never heard of any of these bands. Should I have? WHat sound like they?

walterkranz, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 04:53 (seventeen years ago) link

Follow the link in the first post and there's links to all the bands from there, myspace sites and the like -- use Them Modern Technologies and sample their wares so you can see what you might enjoy most!

So one last revive (well maybe tomorrow too) -- Chaki is going to be here for at least part of this, hope others can make it as well. A reminder that the Mr. T's part will cost $8 but everything else is free, though donations obv. encouraged. Should be fun!

Ned Raggett, Friday, 25 May 2007 01:56 (sixteen years ago) link

Well y'all missed out is all I'm saying. But JBR caught a couple of acts, that was cool. And Chaki where was ya? John aka Xela is a total dude, you would have been his best friend!
