69, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:21 (nineteen years ago)

TNV i gotta say. not that the thermals are a bad band, though. tnv got that special somethin. coincidentally, i am listening to dig yerself now. the lyrics on this record are by-and-large really good.

"a long distance running, an ordinary girl and some philosophy. we got high in the winter but nobody knows. they're all cold and pale. we were married to nothing, then, but we still stopped for pedestrians then."

ian, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:31 (nineteen years ago)

oops i'm drunk and totally fucked up the last lines of those lyrics. "we were married to not a god damn thing, but we still stopped for pedestrians then."

ian, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:32 (nineteen years ago)

wait isn't that paisley and not dig yourself?

Mr. Que, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:33 (nineteen years ago)

nope! it is on side b of dig yerself. "indian winter."

ian, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:34 (nineteen years ago)

oh shit, i must be drunk!

Mr. Que, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:34 (nineteen years ago)

I WAS GONNA KNOW MY TNV
BUT THEN I GOT HIGH

69, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:35 (nineteen years ago)

strongohulkington, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:35 (nineteen years ago)

strongohulkington, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:35 (nineteen years ago)

strongohulkington, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:36 (nineteen years ago)

bullshit

Mr. Que, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:36 (nineteen years ago)

at the tnv show: pavement cover as an encore.

ian, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:36 (nineteen years ago)

which song?

Mr. Que, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:36 (nineteen years ago)

Wasn't the question you asked me
It wasn't the answer I gave
That made me feel like I was on a train
Was a distant voice
Made me make a choice
That I had to get the fuck out of this town
I got a lot of things to do
A lot of places to go
I've got a lot of good things coming my way
And I'm afraid to say that you're not one of them.

Last time I was there
You were out on the couch
Pressed into a little electric 2
It was the way that you smiled
Made me know at once
That I had to get the fuck out of this town
'Cause I've decide to make a stand
And I'm not gonna take your hand
I'm taking the next bus outta here, I'm gonna head for Box Elder, M.O.

ian, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:37 (nineteen years ago)

right on

Mr. Que, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:37 (nineteen years ago)

actually what i would say is:

thermals peaks are higher but tnv are the "all-around" choice

strongohulkington, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:38 (nineteen years ago)

plus i like pop-punk more than hardcore and R&B more than rap

strongohulkington, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:38 (nineteen years ago)

what are your POV thermals cuts, jess?

ian, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:39 (nineteen years ago)

thermals

félix pié, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:41 (nineteen years ago)

gay.

hstencil, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 21:29 (nineteen years ago)

"pillar of salt"
"our trip"
"god and country"
"no culture icons"
"i know the pattern"

strongohulkington, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 21:31 (nineteen years ago)

no culture icons is the jam. thermals = 1st superchunk comp and times new viking = 1st pavement comp?

i haven't celebrated either's catalogue fully, but i think i gotta say thermals too because they are self-conscious in a less knowingly cool and arty way.

artdamages, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 21:37 (nineteen years ago)

that's an interesting and good comparison. kudos.
