music visualization software thread (in 3d)

I haven't spent too much time with much of it, especially the ones that come with Windows Media Player. The one that comes with itunes is slightly better. I downloaded a bunch of plug in visualizers that go with winamp, although most lack imagination. There are so many possibilities in terms of establishing a visual link to music. All of the ones I find either have colors that move seemingly at random or 3d figures that move to the tempo.

Is there any program out there that visualizes music in a unique, interesting way? I just want to have something to stare at for hours while I listen to popol vuh stoned out of my mind.
