Kevin John Bozelka, Saturday, 19 May 2007 02:30 (nineteen years ago)

No.

Mr. Snrub, Saturday, 19 May 2007 02:38 (nineteen years ago)

I'll vouch for Devotchka, although I haven't heard that particular CD. I saw them at the Getty - they're pretty good live. If you like Cello and Theremin (sp), they're for you.

humansuit, Saturday, 19 May 2007 02:38 (nineteen years ago)

* just kidding

No, get rid of it!

Tape Store, Saturday, 19 May 2007 02:39 (nineteen years ago)

Of the ones I've heard, Awesome Colour and Joakim have a few good tunes

todd, Saturday, 19 May 2007 02:52 (nineteen years ago)

wall to wall shite. the organ are ok though

electricsound, Saturday, 19 May 2007 03:07 (nineteen years ago)

It might be worth having a listen to the Dropkick Murphys thing.

moley, Saturday, 19 May 2007 03:11 (nineteen years ago)

It really wouldn't. After their first singer left they were just awful.

milo z, Saturday, 19 May 2007 03:13 (nineteen years ago)

or, I guess, are awful.

milo z, Saturday, 19 May 2007 03:14 (nineteen years ago)

the joakim is solid

babedad, Saturday, 19 May 2007 03:25 (nineteen years ago)

Let me be the first to say keep the Hold Steady Separation Sunday.

kornrulez6969, Saturday, 19 May 2007 03:34 (nineteen years ago)

Keep Oppenheimer

Black Arkestra, Saturday, 19 May 2007 15:31 (nineteen years ago)

the first half of the joakim is v good. if it's the promo with the remixes those are AMAZING.

i always meant to get the jacki-o but never got round to it.

lex pretend, Saturday, 19 May 2007 15:41 (nineteen years ago)

Listen to the last two tracks on the Embrace album again before you chuk it.

Scik Mouthy, Saturday, 19 May 2007 15:57 (nineteen years ago)

WTF Blood on the Wall!! Why are you not listening to that every day of the week?

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 19 May 2007 16:02 (nineteen years ago)

I hope you're not walking... most of those are so shitty, the used CD store probably won't even take them.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Saturday, 19 May 2007 16:06 (nineteen years ago)

Also, spend a little more time wih the Social Registry stuff before you decide to get rid of em.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Saturday, 19 May 2007 16:07 (nineteen years ago)

I'd buy that Akimbo one from you if you won't rip me off.

MacDara, Saturday, 19 May 2007 16:55 (nineteen years ago)

Doesn't seem so, unless Embrace have finally been able to fulfill their potential.

Geir Hongro, Saturday, 19 May 2007 17:24 (nineteen years ago)

Keep Blood on the Wall and Psychic Ills.

wmlynch, Saturday, 19 May 2007 17:39 (nineteen years ago)

Dave Holland Quintet: Critical Mass (Dar 2)

i cant imagine that this is bad. never heard tho

deej, Saturday, 19 May 2007 17:40 (nineteen years ago)

Boris Kovas might be worth another listen, ditto Beequeen. Ditch the rest!

sleeve, Saturday, 19 May 2007 17:41 (nineteen years ago)

Reviewer's copies?

M.V., Saturday, 19 May 2007 18:40 (nineteen years ago)

i saw awesome color open up for dino jr about a week ago. they have such a distracting stage presence, the bassist looked like one of those waving inflatable tube mans they put in front of new car dealerships, just bouncing around - and making me nauseous

davedestroybox, Saturday, 19 May 2007 22:18 (nineteen years ago)

I like a couple of the tracks from that Brokedown EP, but it's far from essential.

Binjominia, Saturday, 19 May 2007 22:31 (nineteen years ago)

You MUST keep Zemog El Gallo Bueno. Dave Holland and Boris Kovac are also worth holding on to.

Cliftonb, Saturday, 19 May 2007 23:29 (nineteen years ago)

Best to burn the Sick Puppies one in a cleansing fire.

SeekAltRoute, Sunday, 20 May 2007 03:52 (nineteen years ago)

WTF? I don't know any of these CD's. I prescribe Can's back catalogue, then call me in the morning. I repeat, there will be a test on Tago Mago. You have been warned.

Bimble, Sunday, 20 May 2007 03:57 (nineteen years ago)

just go sell em, ya miserable cunt.

Saxby D. Elder, Sunday, 20 May 2007 06:08 (nineteen years ago)

The Organ: Grab That Gun (Mint)

The Pinefox played me some music by The Organ once. They seemed pretty good.

The Real Dirty Vicar, Sunday, 20 May 2007 09:30 (nineteen years ago)

Best to burn the Sick Puppies one in a cleansing fire.

Ha ha. That CD showed up in a pile of promos at my office. We didn't fight over who would take that one.

Binjominia, Sunday, 20 May 2007 19:01 (nineteen years ago)

Psychic Ills are good.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy, Sunday, 20 May 2007 19:04 (nineteen years ago)

Lonely China Day are really good - moody postpunk stuff from mainland China. When are you gonna have another CD that meets that description? (Okay, Rebuilding the Rights of Statues, fine. They're really good, too.)

And by all means rid yourself of the Hold Steady. Christ, that band is overrated - they're, like, Dave Matthews worthless to my ear, but 99 percent of my office-mates love them and blare their crap on the communal stereo every goddamn day, it seems like.

unperson, Sunday, 20 May 2007 19:51 (nineteen years ago)

Make a mp3 copy of Devotchka and The Organ first before selling.

Elvis Telecom, Sunday, 20 May 2007 20:16 (nineteen years ago)

I've liked what Larsen I've heard in the past, but I haven't heard the one listed.

Z S, Monday, 21 May 2007 01:48 (nineteen years ago)

Keep:

Dropkick Murphys: The Warrior's Code (Hellcat)
The Hold Steady: Separation Sunday (Frenchkiss)
Boris Kovac & La Campanella: World After History (Piranha)

Consider keeping:

Awesome Color (Ecstatic Peace!)
VNV Nation: Judgement (Metropolis)
Zemgo el Gallo Bueno: Cama de la Conga (Aagoo)

xhuxk, Monday, 21 May 2007 02:07 (nineteen years ago)

Um. I love that Boy Least Likely To album.

Mordechai Shinefield, Monday, 21 May 2007 02:10 (nineteen years ago)

FWIW, I've heard most if not all of these records. They just wound up in my "eh" pile, perhaps prematurely.

And yes yes, The Hold Steady was a joke.

Kevin John Bozelka, Monday, 21 May 2007 06:37 (nineteen years ago)

"Chris Bathgate: A Cork Tale Wake (Quite Scientific)"

Haven't heard that one, though I've seen Bathgate live more than once and he seems a cut above most of the new beardo folk stuff. On the other hand, Bathgate's plays out of my general expertise, and it could just be me carrying along a general regard for the guy to a music that I don't not like, but can't quite bring myself to correct the phrase about.

I eat cannibals, Monday, 21 May 2007 06:50 (nineteen years ago)

Bathgate is actually one of the more genuinely talented musicians I've come across in a while. I think his lyrics and vocals stand out among most. Been to quite a few of his shows and have had some good hang time with him. The new record is solid. I'd give it another listen at least.

PacificOceanBlues, Monday, 21 May 2007 18:23 (nineteen years ago)

Blood on the Wall and Psychic Ills are both well worth keeping. Awesome Color's worth another listen or two, but I could understand wanting to unload that one.
