Belgian band called Digital Dance, who never really gave the impression of being either digital or necessarily danceable. First heard them on an old John Peel show from back in the day...finally have their demos, mind blown. Production delicious, sound quality delicious. It's almost enough to make me start a brand of cereal with the nerdy owner of a record shop on the cereal box, called "Post Punk Nuggets" or something.
John Peel on your morning cereal box.

I wanna hear it! Bimble, have you heard of the Abcerdarians. I think they had a single on Factory and maybe something else on Independent Projects. Anyway, they are really good, like an American Simple Minds.

Make that Abecedarians.
― leavethecapital, Saturday, 19 May 2007 16:34 (nineteen years ago)
They had a 10" on Independent Project. It might even have been a double 10".

I think you could make some serious $$ off Abecedarians
― Curt1s Stephens, Saturday, 19 May 2007 18:46 (nineteen years ago)
YES I have heard of the Abecedarians!! :) They were one of my favourite bands when I was like, 16 or 17. I made it my business to have every single thing they released. Sadly I don't think they've aged all that well, but grimly fiendish will vouch for me playing Smiling Monarchs a few months ago and flipping over it.
I'm going to try to figure out what's the best way to share this Digital Dance with folks. I keep saying I'm going to start a blog, but it just never seems to happen. Anyway, the guy I got it from knew the band personally so I'm going to see if he/remaining members care if I post it on a blog or something.

Oh also (I'm not thinking!) here is a place where you can hear some Digital Dance, though I don't think their best stuff is represented here (this is a tribute page to the singer, who died):

Here is another site about them:

Sell your blurb to Dusty Groove
― Michael F Gill, Sunday, 20 May 2007 06:44 (nineteen years ago)
Just wanted to bump this one more time as I've confirmed it with James of LTM himself that he plans to release a Digital Dance CD later in the year. Woohoo!

Did you see that Soul/Jazz compilation of post-punk?
They actually had the b-side of the Naafi Sandwich absurd single!
amongst other stuff obscure and known.
― Mark G, Monday, 21 May 2007 19:54 (nineteen years ago)
Hmm. I don't know Naafi Sandwich, but I can't seem to find a webpage that links Soul Jazz with Naafi Sandwich. Punching it into the search function on Soul Jazz's website gets me nowhere either.
― Bimble, Monday, 21 May 2007 21:22 (nineteen years ago)
They renamed themselves "The Naafis" and rereleased the single.
Soul Jazz Naafis will get you it on Google.

Okay, I'm blogging now. Trying to anyway. I'm going to try to keep the focus on putting up some tracks by my fave obscure post-punk bands circa '79-'83. I've got Gods Gift and Digital Dance up now if anyone is interested.

Bimble is posting obscure Brit post-punk 7" singles now for anyone who cares. He's got plenty of them ripped and the sleeves scanned, so should be able to keep the blog going on a more frequent basis than before. First installment is The Insex and The Tea Set:
Windy Weather
I also fixed that Gods Gift sleeve from back in October so it has the proper colour now of what the sleeve looks like in real life.
