Okay, both "Me & My Imagination" and "Catch You" are great but I haven't heard the rest of it yet.
This year's Come & Get It?

China Heart is a great Moroder-esque highlight coming late into the album.

Just listening to this. Randomneess meant I heard the last track (What Have We Started) first. It's really terrific!

Her voice is like nails down a blackboard for me. Like the songs tho.

i think Metro gave it 5 stars.

does anyone else hear the "mister can you tell me where my love has gone" (anika) melody in Me and My Imagination?

Alan, Monday, 21 May 2007 09:55 (nineteen years ago)

Yes. Metro gave it 4 stars though.

I love this album. If You Go is my song of the year just now.

I'm rather fond of "The Distance Between Us" and "Love Is Here." Which is interesting for me I guess because I don't usually go for the lovey dovey ballady songs when it comes to British pop music.

Mr. Perpetua, Monday, 21 May 2007 16:43 (nineteen years ago)

i'm completely unsurprised by the fact that 'if you go' was written by miranda cooper.

one year passes...

REVIVE!

Two new songs up on her Myspace. "Off & On" is a Roisin Murphy outtake and really, it's much of a muchness as to whose version is better. I think Sophie's polished enunciation in the verses makes it sound better, but Roisin's b-vox in her version's chorus lave SEB's for dead. Call it a tie. A good song, anyway, Roisin's reasons for shelving it were shit.

The other new song, much anticipated, is the Freemasons-produced "Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer", which despise its cumbersome title is extremely good. To give you some idea of what it sounds like: disco disco disco disco disco disco disco disco disco disco disco! VERY GOOD! Has top 5 written all over it as long as you Britishes haven't discovered _taste_.

I haven't heard the new songs yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

I still can't believe "If You Go" wasn't a single. That was my favorite song on TTLF, hands down.

Yeah, great song that really would have been a great addition to overpowered but whatevs. Sophie is not a master like Roisin where she has this feeling like Dusty Springfield or someone of being able to perfectly craft a performance, but her crisp staccatto reading of the chorus has its own poetry.

I know, right?, Thursday, 5 June 2008 17:36 (eighteen years ago)
