come on, these guys are the worst of the worst, right?

NOOOOOOOO.

Ok, I honestly don't even remember what they sound like, but I know that I listened to them one night, and they inspired me to create a song! Albeit a shitty one, but it was still a song!

Delete thread, we've done this before. It wasn't even a general Residents thread, it was a defend the indefensible or something.

L2S (learn to search)

Oh and they're pretty great some times, but I don't listen to them often.

i guess i've never heard them, but Rip It Up and Start Again made them sound cool..

I like what they did to "Paint It Black." Most of the Residents stuff I've heard is extremely mediocre, but I haven't heard much.

twelve years pass...

pre-Mole Residents >>>>>>> Mole and post-Mole Residents

Commercial Album remains a work of staggering genius but I revisit the others less these days

I'm marginally interested in some of their (mostly older) stuff, but man they have just released too many records in the last twenty plus years.

I think they had a pretty decent hot streak from 1998-2006 or so. Though I guess it depends if you dig a not-actually-that-inept version of the band

frogbs, Thursday, 23 January 2020 17:52 (six years ago)

Frogs, if you could direct me to one in particular from that era I'll certainly investigate. I did find one download-only compilation called Morning Music that I quite liked; it eliminated a lot of the weird-for-weird's-sake stuff that I sometimes find hard to listen to.

If 1972-80 was inept then I prefer inept.

Demons Dance Alone & Animal Lover are the two I remember liking, though Animal Lover is pretty grim, one of those albums you gotta talk yourself into

The most in-depth and longest (from '01 on) Residents thread, far as I know, w Hardy's parting words to us or whomever, and follow-ups from homebase, or thereabouts:
The Residents: C/D;S&D
