Best RAW/Kerrang/Metal Hammer Album of 1994

i voted for kyuss, cuz it's the only album on there that i actually listen to. that made it easy. i got no hate for divine intervention, but i got no great love either. i never play it.

oh wait i actually really like the downward spiral. oops. didn't see it. not that i ever really play that album either, but i know i really like it. probably even more than the kyuss album.

Albums I like: Bruce Dickinson, Corrosion of Conformity, Dream Theater, Killing Joke, Kyuss, Machine Head, Megadeth, 9 Inch Nails, Nirvana, Prong, Queensryche, Rollins Band, Soundgarden, Stabbing Westward, Therapy?

despite the fact that I've heard like 4 albums in their entirety from this list I am positive that soundgarden can't be beaten

Out of those, I probably listen to COC, Killing Joke, Kyuss, Machine Head, Megadeth, 9 Inch Nails, Prong (snap your fingers, snap your neck!), Rollins Band, and Therapy? fairly often.

I will say that that Killing Joke record is severely underrated. It's probably the Killing Joke album I listen to the most. Just killer industrial rock.

sky valley. honorable mentions for the prong and COC discs. i liked a pantera song or two back then.

Soundgarden by a country mile. Superunknown was the first CD I ever bought, and it still holds up to this day. It's just so sad to see what's become of Chris Cornell. I mean, Kim Thayil is collaborating with Sunn 0))), but him? Jesus...

(I do have a few others from this list, and they're not bad, but they rarely see the light of day. There are a few others which I don't have that I'd like to check out, though.)

Kyuss with a strong challenge from Soundgarden. That Prong album was pretty shit hot, I wish I knew where I left it. This list has my favourite albums by a lot of these bands, I think cos this was a real formative year for me (I was 14)

It was between Kyuss and Soundgarden but it's the best Kyuss album, and I play it regularly , so that gets my vote.

oh and I meant to say it was between Kyuss, Manics and Soundgarden.

Kyuss, Manics or Therapy? for me, honourable mentions to Soundgarden and Pantera.

The last good Therapy? album.

Kyuss or Rollins. Can't decide, so I abstain.

No it wasn't. I had been a fan since the 1st ep, and Infernal Love was a HUGE letdown.

Heh. Badmotorfinger was my first CD ever. But because I've been selling shit off lately, I can say that it isn't nearly as great as I remember.

Others from the list that haven't held up (to my ear) and that I've sold: Alice in Chains, Bad Religion, Collective Soul, Killing Joke (though someone just bought my Democracy single and I was happy it went to a good home), Live, NIN, Slayer, Stabbing Westward.
Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Pantera were better than I remembered (though I think Pantera still might get sold).

Badmotorfinger and NIN hold up for me. As does the Killing Joke. I still love Sap but Jar Of Flies isn't that great really.

Tons of good stuff this year, so you have no excuse.

I mean, I know those mags were completely out of touch at the time, still peddling the same tired grunge and moshcore cliches but that's one of the most depressingl yearlists ever.

He usually does. To complain Crowded House aren't on it and how that sort of thing is better than metal/hard rock. And that Q is a better magazine to do polls from as they have a varied list (hah)

I shouldn't be voting either, as I've only heard about 8 of these (and don't care much for many of those, tbh), but I decided to go for Nirvana after all. METAL.

Sugar won the last one but i think more people will vote for the beasties and sugar will lose out. (F.U.E.L. is an underrated album).

I don't see a frontrunner But i wouldn't be surprised if Soundgarden or Nirvana won it via the lurker vote. NIN could be a definite good outside vote. Kyuss may do ok. I'd be ok with any of those winning really.

Manics got more votes here than the NME/MM poll. Can't argue with the top 3 I suppose. Thought NIN would've done better.

I didn't vote Oasis. Didn't vote in this poll at all. I see no point in specialist mags doing this kinds of polls. Plus "Definitely Maybe" isn't particularly good, with the exception of 2 or 3 tracks.
