WHERE CAN I FIND A WOMAN LIKE THAT?

This song never charted in the UK? Is my homeland mad? Greatest song ever as of today. I am finding it hard to imagine a reality in which I am not listening to this song.

JWIN for the win

"Just What I Needed" has a special place in my heart. My brother had a Cars tape when I was 3-4 and that synth hook got ingrained in my head subconsciously. I didn't hear the song again until like 2001, and it was surreal. I love it, fuck the haters. The III chord is key.

"Just What I Needed" is so far ahead. Has "Jesse's Girl" even got a hook?

This thread made me download Ruckus on my work computer just so I could listen to this song. Christ. The buildup of the verse to the synth part = one of the greatest recorded moments in history.

this doesn't even begin to make sense! the song is like a collection of hooks!

ric ocasek IS jesse!

Rick wishes he had Ocasek's hooks

Curt1s Stephens, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 14:31 (nineteen years ago)

Rick is righteous, desperate but now down his hooks are disjointed but pumped full of tungsten. Ric is a louche douche.

but NOT down. crucial distinction there dudes.

Palm-muted electric guitar is my favorite thing in the universe, and "Jesse's Girl" is the Top 40 example par excellence.

Does the Ricker play guitar on his hits?

"Jesse's Girl." It has a false key change - it jumps up for an instrumental intro to the third verse, but then jumps back down before the vocals come in! Crazy!

"i feel so dirty when they start talking cute"

acrobat, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 15:24 (nineteen years ago)

Both are grebt, but "Jessie's Girl" has one of the best bridges of all time.

"Don't Talk to Strangers" vs "Let's Go"

Yeah, and the hard rockin' lead out from the bridge back to the chorus is nice.

Last time I heard this was at the "Beetlejuice rock and roll graveyard" at Orlando Universal. Except it was sung by Drac and was called "Frankie's Girl"

"Human Touch" vs. "You're All I've Got Tonight"

Jesse's Girl is great but NOTHING beats Just What I Needed.

...except "It's All I Can Do"
