Newports ARE menthol cigarettes.Goths like soy burgers a lot. And goths who eat meat? Yeah, taco bell. But taco bell is pretty much everybody food, if you're short on cash or it's after ten.

haha oops...i was trying to start a thread about the LEAST goth food.
only on ILX would you have an idea for a goth food thread and find out there already was one.
― be on the treadmill - uh! - like OK GO (M@tt He1ges0n), Saturday, 21 March 2009 14:58 (fifteen years ago) link
saying mexican is the least goth anything is pure insanity
― She Is Beyond Food In Weevil (Mackro Mackro), Saturday, 21 March 2009 20:39 (fifteen years ago) link
but start the thread on ILE, I dare you.
yeah but mexican goth isn't the same

i have def seen goths eating burritos at 3 am though
― moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 22 March 2009 08:46 (fifteen years ago) link
in fact i know some teenage goth types that only eat burritos, nothing else. except maybe they are not real goths? i mean, they wear all black and makeup and combat boots but the clothes are fairly baggy and they usually have dyed red hair or something like that, a wallet chain and an anime t-shirt (black). maybe that's not a goth, maybe they're mutant juggalos or something.
― moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 22 March 2009 08:49 (fifteen years ago) link
But I wasn't talking about mexico, or mexican goth culture, or if goths eat mexican food.
i mean the food ITSELF.....the food itself seems very un-goth to me.
i can't really say why.
like if a burrito was a sentient being, i don't think it would listen to bauhaus.
― be on the treadmill - uh! - like OK GO (M@tt He1ges0n), Sunday, 22 March 2009 15:01 (fifteen years ago) link
TS: "what would be the most aesthetically appropriate food for Goths?" vs. "what in the real world do actual goths actually wind up eating?"
For the former, I'm thinking venison (and other game) and red wine, things that in Renaissance humoral medicine were thought to lead to melancholy.
For the latter, burritos OTM.
― Neotropical pygmy squirrel, Sunday, 22 March 2009 15:47 (fifteen years ago) link
"if a burrito was a sentient being ...."
almost deserves its own thread.
so if a burrito were a sentient being what kind of music WOULD it listen to?

i had this quail in oaxacan mole sauce when i was in la last month... it was this tiny bird covered in this bitter, thick, spicy jet-black sauce
it was insanely goth

― moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 22 March 2009 19:55 (fifteen years ago) link
quail is the most pointless bird to eat. so little meat.

salsa!
― paper plans (tipsy mothra), Sunday, 22 March 2009 20:10 (fifteen years ago) link
ok that was too easy because the genre was named after the food
suppose there was a type of music called burrito, what would it sound like?

btw i am calling my next mixtape "burrito beats vol 1"

apparently there is some dj or mc from LA called gray kid who has a catchphrase that goes something like "beats like burritos, hot n heavy" but that sounds a bit too much like a description of his shit or something for me
― moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 22 March 2009 20:17 (fifteen years ago) link
well his shit might have some relation to burritos, to be fair

The least goth food has got to be a McDonald's hamburger, 'cause it's the most common, ordinary, unspecial food in the world. And it's meat.

Proposal for discussion: gelatin (especially in molded salads) is as ungoth as food gets:
1) It is (usually) derived from animals, yet doesn't provide the savage pleasures of eating meat.2) It comes in perky and cheerful colors.3) It is associated with midwestern-American middle-class white-bread cuisine.4) Jello shots are favored by the sort of fratboys who, back in high school, delighted in giving wedgies to anyone they didn't like.

it was!!
this is what jonathan gold had to say about it:
"Still, I always end up with the quail in the traditional black mole, so dark that it seems to suck the light out of the airspace around it, spicy as a novela and bitter as tears, a mole whose aftertaste can go on for hours. La Tía’s mole negro appears so glossy and rich that I am always tempted to test its consistency by stabbing an index finger into it, and the resulting stain lingers as long as the empurpled digits of patriotic Iraqi voters. The last time I was as inspired by glossy black, it was part of Charles Ray’s infamous sculpture Ink Box, and it was enshrined in a major museum of art."
