i don't think they should do anything new, it'd only be a letdown.

the bigger letdown has been the fact they haven't done anything new.

maybe if they'd made another album a couple of years after loveless...

What about a shoegaze prog-out with three tracks, lasting about 39 minutes in total? Just a thought.

They should at least try make a new album. They don't have to release it if it's not up to scratch.

Wonder if they really ever did make a drum n bass album mixed with heavy guitars that they were rumoured to have done in the mid 90s.

Anyone in favour of MBV making a metal album then? Only Shallow is practically metal anyway. So a whole album of bludgeoning guitars would be awesome.

what the hell defines metal in this context? i doubt they're very practiced in metal technique, probably not big listeners to metal, so it's like... should neurosis make a hip-hop album? they've got DRUMS in their music, after all.

should MBV make a REALLY LOUD MBV album? yes. a metal album? wouldn't work.

We don't know what they listen to though. You just never know.

every now and then, i think that a metal-version of MBV would sound a lot like the deftones (which would be a good thing).

I'm sure Chino said when making White Pony that he had been listening to a lot of stuff like that. And there's certainly LOADS of metal bands influenced by MBV and shoegaze bands now.

'Feed Me With Your Kiss' came around on shuffle and I thought something I've never thought before: "This is the least competent metal song I've ever heard."
