A while back I stumbled on this video, which introduced me to the idea of improvised conducting. While I've jammed with a lot of people, who are excellent, reasonable musicians who I'm not comfortable using the word 'jam' to describe their playing, I'd never considered this possibility. I found out about Zorn's work, and am hoping to find more videos. See if you can pick out the meanings behind the conducting gestures (before it shows the 'score').
