I'm not sure but I do know that Kathmandu is a mountain (or something, something somewhere else, far away), hope this helps.

seriously now ...
... my first awareness of Guy Mann Dude was an off-the-cuff mention of his name by Howard Stern, circa 1991 or thereabouts. i thought that it was just Howard riffing and making up a ridiculous name (a la Bababooey), but sometime thereafter this co-worker of mine @ the time who was totally into hair metal mentioned him (i don't remember if it was positive or not, but seeing as this co-worker liked stuff like slaughter, poison, and britny fox i presume that it was a positive).
i can't say that i've given Mr. Dude much thought then or now, but every now & then i do wonder -- just who WAS this guy, and was he any good (in the opinion of folks who really like hair-metal, that is).

arg, here's an image of Mr. Dude that can't be fucked with (like his shredding style perhaps?):

He played on a few tracks from this record, with an ad hoc band called The Dudes of Wrath, featuring Desmond Child, Tommy Lee, Paul Stanley, and Alice Cooper. I can't remember how good the solos were, but the songs were awful.

Inventive use of apostrophes (as syllable-substitutes) there, assuming those song titles are verbatim.

If it helps, "Guy" is pronounced like "ghee."

I do remember the "Paint It Black" he recorded-- saw it on mtv once. An uptempo showoff shred-fest. Instrumental wasn' it? All this time I incorrectly remembered it being a band called Man Dude Guy.

Not when his last name is Mann-Dude, it's not!

Eisbaer not a Metal Edge or Guitar World reader, clearly

Back in 1989 he recorded a promo bit for UCLA's radio station, which was then mercilessly chopped up and reworked and trashed. And he definitely pronounced it 'guy' not 'ghee'

his solos are like clarified butter

Reviving due to Scott's eighties thread today.

He also was part of the heavy metal supergroup The Dudes Of Wrath along with Paul Stanley of Kiss and Tommy Lee of Motley Crue, who were specially assembled to record a song called Shocker from the movie of the same name.

Shocker! Shocker! We're led like lambs to the slaughter! Shocker! Shocker! We're in the fire and it's just getting hotter!
(this was one of like 15 tapes that I owned circa 1989)

The final comment at the very end is, indeed, accurate.
― Ned Raggett, Monday, 18 April 2011 05:47 (fifteen years ago)
is it really pronounced 'ghee'? Just how many built-in punchlines does one, uh, person need?
― Antoine Bugleboy (Merdeyeux), Monday, 18 April 2011 09:23 (fifteen years ago)
No, it's pronounced normally like "guy". Dude upthread had no idea.
