So, can we bank on a better line-up than Coachella? aka My Bloody Valentine/Radiohead/other rumoured but not actual Coachella headliners/bands.....
Also, because I'm mildly clueless and not from New York, Liberty State Park in New Jersey is like. . .very close to NYC??
― Michael_Pemulis, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 01:23 (eighteen years ago)
yes, you'll probably be able to take a boat there from NYC in about 5 minutes
― gabbneb, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 01:23 (eighteen years ago)
and Radiohead are reportedly confirmed
― gabbneb, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 01:27 (eighteen years ago)
radiohead and jack johnson i guess are the only confirmed....says a friend of mine whose sources are god knows what

Just saw the (unconfirmed not yet final)lineup:
Radiohead, Jack Johnson, Underworld, Kings of Leon, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Cat Power, The Roots, The New Pornographers, Youssou N'Dour, Animal Collective, Andrew Bird, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Metric, CSS, Girl Talk, Chromeo, The Go! Team, Amadou & Mariam, The Black Angels, Sia, The Felice Brothers, K'Naan, Jason Isbell, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Alberta Cross, The Virgins, Black Kids, Mates of State, Duffy, Forro in the Dark, Nicole Atkins, Juana Molina, Little Brother, Rogue Wave, Neil Halstead and Your Vegas
This is taking place about four blocks away from my home and is going to be bonkers.

I'm kind of underwhelmed with the lineup so far. It's only a few blocks from my home as well and I'll likely go, but... sigh.
― miryam, Friday, 22 February 2008 23:11 (eighteen years ago)
I'm 20 minutes away and was looking forward to going all 3 days. But this is really a disappointing lineup, to put it mildy.
― kornrulez6969, Friday, 22 February 2008 23:37 (eighteen years ago)
If MBV play I'll go.
― Spencer Chow, Saturday, 23 February 2008 00:23 (eighteen years ago)
Since we had Tollett on the phone, we had to ask, even though we knew it was a stupid question: Any chance that one of the promised additions to the All Points West lineup might be My Bloody Valentine? No. No chance at all.
No. No chance at all.

This is a pretty dire lineup. Makes Coachella in Cali look grand by comparison.
― stephen, Saturday, 23 February 2008 00:47 (eighteen years ago)
ouch, looks like a $90 Radiohead concert
― Bus Driver Stu, Saturday, 23 February 2008 00:50 (eighteen years ago)
wow dudes.

great poster at least
How the fuck did Kings of Leon be anywhere near the top?
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 23 February 2008 01:09 (eighteen years ago)
maybe they thought they were booking reading festival
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 23 February 2008 01:10 (eighteen years ago)
im genuinely curious as to whether or not anyone actually likes more than 2 bands out of that first 8?
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 23 February 2008 01:12 (eighteen years ago)
I'm genuinely curious if this isn't just a plot to lure NPR-listening 40-somethings to one spot for extermination.
― ian, Saturday, 23 February 2008 01:27 (eighteen years ago)
I like Radiohead, Underworld, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Cat Power. That's gotta be at least 2.
Also, Amadou & Mariam are really great live.
― The Macallan 18 Year, Saturday, 23 February 2008 01:28 (eighteen years ago)
All or 90% of the bands on the lineup have played at Coachella.
So: the West Coast rules, East Coast drools.
Just saying.
― The Macallan 18 Year, Saturday, 23 February 2008 01:30 (eighteen years ago)
no the west coast has just set a precedent for predictable mediocrity
― omar little, Saturday, 23 February 2008 01:37 (eighteen years ago)
do like
Radiohead, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Cat Power, The Roots, The New Pornographers, Youssou N'Dour, Animal Collective, Michael Franti & Spearhead (eh), Girl Talk, Chromeo, The Black Angels, Little Brother (eh)
― BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Saturday, 23 February 2008 01:45 (eighteen years ago)
wow i'm kind of offended that kings of leon are that high on the bill. was it the opening slot for u2?
― Bus Driver Stu, Saturday, 23 February 2008 01:57 (eighteen years ago)
why does Jack johnson get to headline like every fucking festival this year
― gman, Saturday, 23 February 2008 10:21 (eighteen years ago)
I'm also surprised that the more popular NYC area bands aren't showing up. I was all excited for this festival because I got engaged at Coachella a couple years ago, and APW is going to be on my one-year wedding anniversary, and it was going to be super party time. Now I'm all, "meh."
― miryam, Saturday, 23 February 2008 16:23 (eighteen years ago)
30,000 folks out last night and no ilxors, eh?
― forksclovetofu, Sunday, 10 August 2008 15:56 (seventeen years ago)
if i were there... i would've marked my calendar for Radiohead, Underworld, Animal Collective, Neil Halstead, the Black Angels, maybe Secret Machines but that's a stretch... i liked Cat Power a lot more about 5 years back. her live show these days is pretty dire.
slim pickings, indeed.
― stephen, Sunday, 10 August 2008 17:00 (seventeen years ago)
oh yeah, definitely the Roots also. much better live than on record (usually).
