Is this actually coming out any time soon? I've seen the date 19 May around the web, and there's a review in the current Wire which says it's coming out on Domino, but there's nada about it on the Domino website, and there's no pre-order listing on Amazon. Admittedly I haven't looked very hard, but for a CD that's supposed to be out two months from now, you'd think there'd be more than a whisper about it. What gives?

domino website is quite bad for news though, in general.
― I know, right?, Friday, 21 March 2008 13:08 (eighteen years ago)
it's definitely coming out soon with remixes of "optimo" to follow. a liquid liquid "back in the day" dvd is also due sometime this year.

So is this basically a newer (possibly re-mastered, possible more legitimate) version of this one: http://www.discogs.com/release/135462
― matt2, Friday, 21 March 2008 14:39 (eighteen years ago)
That's what The Wire says - the new one has most of the same studio tracks, but with different live tracks. I don't have the mag with me so I can't tell you if it's remastered or not, but Domino did a pretty good job with that Josef K anthology so it shouldn't be rubbish.
― MacDara, Friday, 21 March 2008 14:54 (eighteen years ago)
yes, but with some bonus previously unreleased tracks and some live liquid idiot tracks.
― stirmonster, Friday, 21 March 2008 14:55 (eighteen years ago)
x post
Actually, Dennis Young's website says the tracks were digitally remastered at Abbey Road. So there you go.

Cool! Thanks for the info everyone. This is a must purchase. Getting the bootlegs of the EPs is great, but it's nice to think the guys who made the music may actually get paid for it this time. Or was that also the case with the Mo'Wax/Grand Royal release as well? For some reason I thought maybe not. Was this all worked out with Ed Bahlman too ;)?
― matt2, Friday, 21 March 2008 15:10 (eighteen years ago)
Damn it, I got my hopes up for a second that this was completely different material but it's just the same one I bought on mo'wax :(
― mh, Friday, 21 March 2008 16:25 (eighteen years ago)
ditto
― jaxon, Friday, 21 March 2008 16:55 (eighteen years ago)
waitwait, a back-in-the-day dvd? live footage, or animation by sal, or ...?
(anyone got any dog eat dog bootlegs, heh?)
― etc, Friday, 21 March 2008 18:50 (eighteen years ago)
I just saw this on bleep, so I'd assume it's in shops or showing up soon. Anyone have it?
― mh, Monday, 19 May 2008 15:48 (eighteen years ago)
I bought it at Mono the other day - it sounds great, essential purchase.
It does sound slightly different, quite clean, but not in a bad way and that might be just my ears comparing it to memory - not actually done a back to back with the bits I have on vinyl
― Sandy Blair, Monday, 19 May 2008 16:59 (eighteen years ago)
weird that 'dig we must' and 'flextone' (so good) have been left off again, like they were with the mo'wax comp.
― haitch, Monday, 19 May 2008 19:29 (eighteen years ago)
i'm guessing that it is something to do with these tracks being made after richard mcguire had left the band.

Guys - go to the Dj History site (I know I know --- but only just this once) and download the recent *superb* mix Sal P did for them. Percussion Heaven.

Weird, the CD on Amazon seems to be mixed up with a Pastels release - check the bio, similar CDs and one of the reviews.

I just got mine in the post today from Domino. Haven't read the SFJ sleeve essay yet; it's so nicely packaged overall, I'm surprised they didn't proof it better.

Not that long ago if the quote from the Guardian is anything to go by.
This would be more exciting if it was a better venue.

They cropped up in the latest Spiderman film. I found the film beyond tedious but was happy to hear Scraper and hope they were handsomely rewarded for it.
