Would have voted for LL's "Doin' It" if I'd noticed this: Williams deserves credit for eliciting the rapper's only good performance outside his cameo in Woo.

Otherwise, I think the reason for the low turnout on this thing is that Hype Williams videos suck. I know his Missy and Busta videos have their followings, and "Big Pimpin'" is some kind of landmark (Duran Duran minus humor? The death of the low-budget rap video?), but even those look like the slick boring commercials that most modern videos have become.

Pete Scholtes, Saturday, 5 April 2008 22:09 (eighteen years ago)

Can someone with access to nb post that on you know that one thread 2?

The Reverend, Sunday, 6 April 2008 04:58 (eighteen years ago)

thx for everything julie morbius?

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Sunday, 6 April 2008 05:04 (eighteen years ago)

Missed my chance to vote, but I woulda voted for Belly.

Eazy, Sunday, 6 April 2008 07:11 (eighteen years ago)

I think what HOOS should have done, instead of paralyzing people with a hundred options, is maybe pick out the 5 or 6 that he thinks are best or most culturally relevant and have people vote from that smaller pool. It never hurts to put in a little work ahead of time when it comes to polls; you get a better response rate and people appreciate you for it.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Sunday, 6 April 2008 09:15 (eighteen years ago)

Maybe 10 would have been a better number than 5 or 6.

The Reverend, Sunday, 6 April 2008 09:18 (eighteen years ago)

Sure, 10, whatever. Why not? I'm just saying: Hoos, next time!

* Mobb Deep feat. Nas - "It's Mine"

this one is pretty great - just tons of wide angle shots of oceans and beaches, except since it's a mobb deep one (even one about being rich & famous) it's kind of a perverse exercise

lmao @ all these options

anyway i noticed while reading something else on wikipedia that hype directed the video for the plus-gaga version of "video phone" which got me wondering to how much the prices of guys like hype & joseph khan have gone down since the early/mid decade era of videos actually mattering

also when artists were driving around in hummers & lexuses & navigators

OMG, "Sock It To Me" - I saw stills of that at the time but never the video. Wow, that's great. Who is Missy's sidekick though? I figured it was Da Brat in a wig but then she actually shows up as yet a third character.
