detroit hip-hop - S/D

im talking mostly about the dilla sound really but theres probably other detroit hip hop thats passed under the radar thats worth investigating too.

obvious s's:
slum village's first two albums
dilla - ruff draft and welcome to detroit
black milk - by popular demand (if only for sound the alarm)
dabrye - two/three - not so keen on some the collabos here, but the instrumental tracks are pretty great electronica/dilla tracks, hes probably one of the main influences on 'wonky hip hop', more so maybe than dilla, if thats possible

i cant make up my mind if black milk and fat rays the set up is a s or d.

dunno why but i dont like elzhi that much anymore. technically hes amazing but all that 'im just doing me' (faux?) humility thing i was hearing on the preface doesnt do much for me. did like him on sv's trinity album though.

are those dirty district albums worth getting?

i've got the first dirty district and it's got some great beats (i think T3 does most of them?), but too many of the mcs are really bad indie dudes. in the same line are the DJ Houseshoes mixtapes. great beats, shitty mcs

the nottz album sounds like it could have been made by a detroit producer, but it isnt as good as say, black milk. plus he sounds a lot like old kanye as a rapper, just not as funny.
