Matthew Sweet- Girlfriend, Classic or Dud?

He was considered godlike by critics during the 90's with his catchy power pop, Id have thought he would be popular around here but Ive never heard him mentioned. I bought Girlfriend years ago but rarely played it, it sounded bland to me. So C or D ?

I like the song. Haven't heard the album. Kind of a throwback, isn't he? That's okay, because the tune is good, yeah.

Absolute classic for me and never surpassed by his ealrier or later stuff. Slow start with DI, which is a grower but after that almost evry one is a saccharin classic... I Thought I Knew You is so REM that it hurts. Just one of those albums that I found myself pushing at every single one of my friends. I've been largely disappointed since then tho ...

I can't listen to this album at all - I have an extremely strong suspicion that it was an "our album" for my g/f and one of her exes and she often listens to it when she's down. So hearing it fills me with complete and utter dread.
