This weekend I was played one of the best bits of music ever. I was told it was "Let's Make The Water Turn Black" by Frank Zappa, but when I downloaded the track it was different from the song I heard. It was definitely the same tune but the one I was after was an instrumental with trumpets playing the usual singing part. What is this tune and what LP is it on please? What should I look for on WINMX or SOulseek?

It's on "We're Only In It For The Money".

the trumpet version or the vocal version? I have the vocal one but I need the trumpet one.

Also, I'm finding it hard to search on Soulseek and WinMX - Audiogalaxy used to have practically everything I searched forbut these programs seem awkward... Any search tips?

Um, there are a number of different versions of "Let's Make the Water Turn Black" on a lot of different FZ albums (official or otherwise). Sometimes Zappa paired "LMTWTB" with either or both of "Harry, You're a Beast" and "The Orange County Lumber Truck." So it's hard to tell precisely which version you downloaded, DL.

I think that yuou'll find that St. Alphonzo's Pancake Homepage is a good one-stop-shopping source for all things Zappa. The different FZ albums on which "LMTWTB" appeared* are listed on this page.

* The official Zappa releases, anyway. St. Alphonzo's won't be of much use if what you downloaded is from one of the zillons of Zappa boots out there.
