the clatter of the rhythm is *rusty*! or even time itself!!

Yeah it's good, but there are better songs off the album. Which by the way was certainly a "grower" for me. I'm really getting into All Y'all now that it's a single.

I guess what distinguishes ppl like myself is the full-on adoption of the tropes as well as sounds of indian music. Ghostface Killah has a track like that on Supreme Clientele, which I only just realized.

Which track? I can only think of the really indian one that's about number 10 on Bulletproof Wallets not Supreme Clientele.

i swear people like myself sounds more like an irish jig than anything else.

what exactly is a "trope," anyway? i know it's one of those critic things to say (i think the first time i saw the word used was in, cough cough, the wire), but can someone define it usefully?

as for the song...yeah, i'm hearing an irish jig, too. and the the way the vocal hook runs sounds kind of...pirate. arr!

No, that'd be Res - Golden Boys.

A trope is a rockist meme... :) There's a thread about those two words somewhere.

It was my favorite track off that album for a while... very good, yes. It sounds best when you listen to it in the order it appears on the record- after the one featuring Jay-Z and Twista. I can't remember the name of that track.. they blend together rather well.

Anyway, I'm kinda surprised this album wasn't more talked-about, considering how much Timbaland-related discussion goes on around here. It was hit-or-miss, but the tracks that shine really shine. I haven't seen much talk about Welcome to Our World or Tim's Bio either.. it seems everyone is interested in Timbaland's productions, but not so much his own work.

(when I first heard it I thought of a sea shanty)

Bobby is EXACTLY right.
