...when listening to music and really getting into it. y'know like, when drunk and stuff. just a little imaginary stixmanship or banging out the beat on my knees, even though i can't really play any real instruments. i occasionally strum a bit to myself too, but not cock-rock air guitar, just...Formby-esque banjo style. nothing to be ashamed of i'm sure !

what can you air play when the rhythm gets you + (hopefully)no-one can see ?

Air-turntableism owns you all.

(Yes, yes, I'm still a lurker, but I'm too happy over the fact that I'm actually the modernist here for once not to post this)

I played air drums constantly, for years and years; then I got a chance to sit down at an actual drum set and found out I could actually play! Hey ma, the lessons done paid off!

My friends have been calling him Emule Heskey all season.

For some reason I only play air-drum to humanly-impossible-to-play jungle rhythms. Something about those ticky snares makes my arms cross and my right hand start shaking like the palsy.

Air xylophone owns this thread.

In the 80's when Lip Synching was considered entertainment, a few of us entered a contest to lip synch to the Sanford & Son theme. We all wanted to play air-cowbell - so we just said forget the whole thing.

Air hambone.

That is, you pretend you're beating on someone else's body. Also fun when music is not present. And when someone else's body is present. It is mandatory to be scatting as loudly as possible when doing so.

I play wicked air drum, air guitar, and air bass. But I play even better real flute. (School disco tonight, my band has been requested to play.)
