It also had Steeleye Span next to Riuichi Sakamoto next to Niki Skopewotsisname (Bill Laswell associated guitarist) next to Pop Will Eat Itself ... but the latter is pretty typical.
One of my favorite recent mix CDs (which isn't weird at all) goes :
The The : Like The Sun Risin' Thru My Garden
Robert Wyatt : Sea Song
Jean Michel-Jarre : Wooloomooloo
Momus : A Complete History of Sexual Jealousy
Nike Drake & Soft Machine : Broken Earth
808 State and Bjork : QMart
try it one day ... it makes a lot of sense.

My last tape for friends (a Pick Of 2001) had the following acts, in order: Avalanches, DJ Teebee, NERD, Invisibl Skratch Picklz, Panacea, SPOOKS, Jeff Beck, Stakka & Skynet, Lolita Storm, Outkast, DJ Zinc, J Rawls, DJ Hazard, New Order, MOP, Accidental Heroes, Orbital, Knifehandchop. There are some pretty schizoid combinations there. I should add that this isn't me being deliberately cruel to friends - I listen to this tape a lot.

Erm, that doesn't seem weird at all? Firstly, of course, there's the original old school hip-hop/Kraftwerk connection, re: Afrika Bambaata using Tour de France samples, etc. And the fact that (what I've heard of) the EL-P record reeks of Electro influences, anyway.
