Strange to feel sorry for the USA...

Only because they played better than Germany. (This match...)

Is Landon Donovan (whatever his name is) not a right bastard? Saw him cheering after the loss to whomever that was (where they got in because of S. Korea). He kept shouting "Fuck Yeah, Fuck Yeah." Than akimbo on the ground after the loss to Germany, crying like an ass. Guess he expected to have the victory handed to him. You're now Michael Owen, Landon, so fuck off. True class. Right bastard - happy that little shit is going home.

Only one team who has come up against Germany in this World Cup has not been beaten -Ireland. Only one man has scored against Germany in this World Cup - the godlike Irishman Robbie Keane (who has been nominated for selection in the 'Team of the World Cup'). This is kind of off the subject, but I must praise our heroic team at every opportunity.

It's interesting b/c it's not at all true that nobody here in the US cares about the World Cup (although, granted, Washington DC is more tuned in than most places), and they had a great run, I didn't feel terribly disappointed about the loss since they played so well.
I just started watching when the Cup started, initially because France were supposed to be good.. (hah!)
Unfortunately articles in major US media about how we just don't understand football are becoming awfully tedious - bashing US for being out of touch w/rest of world does not make one more cosmopolitan, sorry.

outrageous unnoticed handball on the goalline early in second half from German player (can't remember who)
