Im trying to see a band on Sunday (Skywave) I've heard describe as the loudest band since MBV. What other young/new bands these days are turning their amps up to 11 in bars the size of a dirty water closet?

Noddles- The description in the soundlist definetely caught my eye.

''June 23 CURRENTLY IN THESE UNITED STATES + SKYWAVE + ALCIAN BLUE

Who can be the loudest??!! CITUS' Who-meets-Pavement rock is pounded out by a new timekeeper, Kim Temple (Blackeyes, Bodega). Meanwhile the honest-to-goodness loudest-band-in-the-universe, Skywave (from Fredericksburg, Virginia) show us what would have happened if the JAMC & MBV turned up to Slayer volume. They bring their dream-pop pals Alcian Blue along for the ride.''

I'm not os interested in pavement type bands as they suck and I hope its not a lot of hype abt skywave.

What type does it start? and how much is it?

As to the answer to the question, I can't think of any.

Holy Shit! My group opened for Skywave this year at William and Mary. They're from Fredericksburg, REALLY FUCKING LOUD, especially in the tiny hall they played in here. They definitely have a serious Psychocandy fetish, but without quite the sugariness there in the melodies - so I guess they are similar to MBV in a way. It was a great show though; made me nostalgiac for a time I don't even rememeber.

there is a skywave song on this new compilation i picked up, lots of guitars(and the requisite effects), drum machine and the singer with a low register in a semi-chanting mode, kinda cool but actually one of the weaker songs on the cd which is mostly fantastic maybe love and rocketsish along with the jamc influence. alcian blue are on it too, their singer tries harder, he could almost be emo if they would let him in the same room as the band when they were recording. actually, the cd would be greatly improved had both not shown up.

i saw the band Comet at zoots once and they had like ten amplifiers, zoots was the size of my living room. only time i ever saw a band at zoots that had a roadie, he must have felt like he was big time working for a band playing in front of 50 people in someone's living room.

Yup thats the exact show I wanna see. Its "pay what you can" so its not too expensive. I've heard two singles worth of stuff from them and all I know is it sounds better louder.
I have only heard one song from CITUS, all I can say though is Blackeyes are pretty fucked up, in a completely wonderful way. First time I've seen a guy playing bowed saw in a band, and first time I've seena 'normal' human being attack his guitar with multiple tuning forks (one or two on the neck, another as a pick). Both of which events were happening at the same time shortly before they broke into Russian folk singing. Alician Blue arent half bad either from the few songs I've heard from them. The problem is, can I drive my ass in from the suburbs or not.
Skywave do have a bit of a JAMC/MBV fetish but unlike you- know-who its defently an early Psychocandy/Upside Down bent. Excelent song "Fire" was lent to a recent compilation called "Blisscent I" after the radio show and yahoogroup of the same name.

Lightning Bolt plays pretty damn loud. They swung through my town near the end of their summer '01 tour and Brian B. had blown half of his speakers and one of his heads, so he borrowed a head from one of the guys in the opening bands. The opening-band guy then spent most of LB's set holding an electric fan to the back of his poor rig, just to dissuade it from totally giving up the ghost. And it wasn't as loud as I've heard 'em.

Noodles- did you go? I went but I was not allowed inside because I had no ID. The guy said 'I looked young'. I'm twenty fucking three man! For Bardo Pond's show on July 2nd I'll grow a beard! (or take my paasport with me).

Damm, I knew I should have gone. I had to stay at home and take care of my brother, his Jack Russell just basically died or at least the rear end of him did, they did a spinal decompression on him. Sounds impressive, all I know is its expensive and the dog still can't move.
Yet all I kept thinking of is a death dedication for a dog name 'snuggles'.
Either way, family before music, what was i thinking eh?
