How would music be different if Buddy Holly/Richie Valens/Big Bopper had all arrived at their destination? No plane crash. Would pop music be different?

Can you imagine Buddy Holly in the late 60s? I think he would have gone Country. Have Johnny-Cash-like flirtations with the pop world. Devlop a solid friendship with the young Gary Busey.

I want to know what Jimi Hendrix would have been like in the 80s!! He would have been awesome like Miles Davis. Jazz Fusion!

I always assumed people just said so because they went along with it, otherwise I don't see the lasting effect of Big Boppah & Richie Valens. Valens was influential as an Hispanic man in rock music, but his music wasn't that much better than most 50's icons, really.

Richie Valens' contribution to Keiko's world of music=Clem Snide's cover of "Donna"++++HUZZAH!

Buddy Holly would have gone on to produce an album by Pere Ubu in 1977, it would contain their only number one hit, 'Freaktastic'. Peter Laughner would still be alive and guest on several alt-country records.

Would have completely changed the world, the Crickets donated much of their money to the mormon church and of course this would have influenced everyone in the recording industry who would have seen that it wasn't really all about money. Plus the Beatles wouldn't have called themselves that obviously Cricket-referential name because Buddy Holly would've been really uncool by then.

Waylon Jennings would not have lived his life wondering of that night, not gotten hooked on drugs and booze, never became an outlaw country star and would be thought of as the precursor to Garth Brooks due to his clean cut image.

The Big Bopper would have made a mint selling oldies collections via infomercials and would be a regular on the talk show circuit talking up his books on "the golden age of rock and roll".

Buddy Holly would have been a Traveling Wilbury.

Their taxi would have overturned, killing them all anyway. I know this 'cause I saw that one movie about what happens when you cheat death in a plane crash.
