what about karen ramirez? i warmed to the maw rmx of troubled girl the other day. i've had that maw comp for a while, and always skipped that one, but i decided i like it now, its grown on me.

we've had the discussion over jill scott et al, and the allegations of coffee table politeness etc (interesting side note, that glen johnson interview where he bigs up current r'n'b of the timba variety, but baulks at the 'overly emoting' vox - this splitting grated with me, but seems we did a similar thing over on ilm with jill scott etc - the perennial brit problem with hi-technique/emotive vox - an inability to get gospel, anyway thats a sidetrack)

karen ramirez?

or perhaps a maw rmx isn't representative? but it doesn't sound particularly maw, haven't heard original so i don't know how much they've changed it, but it doesn't sound as though they have

I bought the troubled girl single at the time, purely for the MAW mix, but always found it disappointing. I think her voice is kind of thin-sounding and the lyrics sound like weedy folk. It has a certain sweetness though.
