Everyone I have just had my first gig

Incidentally I have just played in my band at a school disco and we were RED-HOT SHIT!! All the teachers, knowing the songs we did, danced. Everyone there congregated (is that a word?) in the hall to hear us; one song only one member out of five had ever played before so we improvised. So if anyone was dumb enough to think prog fans make crap dance bands, you can eat that.

Hang on a moment - this thread was going to be "What is your favourite graffiti about music to scrawl everywhere as I write 'Genesis 4ever' and 'Fripp is God'," When I got to typing I forgot...Oh well, you can answer this too if you want.

Did you play any covers? What did you wear? Did you have any groupies?

What is the appropriate dance to "Supper's Ready"?

My first gig was at a working mens club in Nelson. We played 3 songs including a speeded up version of "Shadowplay" by Joy division, we had a drum machine called "Dr Rhythm". People threw things at us and laughed. we were crap. I dislocated my arm jumping off a cupboard 1 hour later still high off the adrenylin. I still have the tape. I don't listen to it. One of the best moments of my life though.

My first gig was the most woeful show you could possibly imagine. We couldn't hear ourselves and sang dreadfully out of tune. To be frank our songs were pretty shit, and I nearly deafened the whole place when I hit my pedal because I'd set it incorrectly and it was extremely loud. Hilariously we had a heckler which made up for it all.

well I am vain so I will recount my first gig: fourteen years old playing bass in a funny-bad groop with a u2 obsessed singer-songwriter (which explains the 'zoo tv' inspired black & whites set on static on top of some amps) at a "church gig". a couple in front had arms linked and were twirling about when they took a tumble and the girl hit her head on the ground and had a seizure. while the ambulance was en route the singer tried to mellow things out with some solo acoustic songs (and to get the attention away from the injured girl and back on him). she ended up being fine and I ended up staying in the band a little too long. *graffiti: I sometimes write "this is it the truly grout thing" between the tiles in bathrooms. *what songs did your groop play Anna?

If you want to know we did "I'm a Believer", "Back in the USSR", "Walk of life" and "Rebel rebel". Does anyone honestly think we have prog fans teaching at the school?!

Hi Anna.

The other 3 are brilliant songs which makes it even harder to understand why you did "Walk of life" but I'm glad everything went well and I wish you much luck in the future.

"Walk of life"....oh no....
