Where to start with this guy? He has a huge discography already. This one

(Black Ohms) was getting hyped on the Noise Board ambient thread. Anybody heard any others?

White Ohms is my favorite so far (has more of a Steven R Smith sound to it) along with Animism. I'm not quite a completist, but the descriptions in the Aquarius Records catalog have been spot on.

Animism is the only one I've heard. It sounds like Fripp & Eno. (pretty good)

WARS OF ARMAGEDDON (Karaoke Version) (Sparkle Motion), Tuesday, 30 June 2009 17:26 (fourteen years ago) link

i have animism, audio archives 2 and 3, center of the earth, surfaces, and live at infrasonic sound studio.

i really like "center of the earth" because it's sloooooow and heavvvvvvvy like the center of the earth should sound.

i also like surfaces a lot, it's a little lighter in execution and it's got a bit of that sunroof! type of vibe for some reason.

Living Science Foundation were awesome.

i have the album Night Flights on vinyl. i love it. and the vinyl is total pfunkboy-bait too. so pretty. on the excellent Fedora Corpse label from Philly. the album is all star hustler tomita space buzz action. gets the low end going with some hawkwind-ish action on the last track. it just SOUNDS really cool. you know?

I'm always kind of amazed when these mid-western bands have tons of records and an international fanbase (see also Raccoo-ooo-ooon and their splinter projects) but they haven't played in Mid-Missouri. Expo 70 have at least tried to play here, but it hasn't worked out yet. Well, I guess I can't really blame them, this can be a pretty shitty town to play a show in. But it can also be great!

What I'm saying is I think I need to hear more Expo 70.

Trip Maker, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 19:20 (fourteen years ago) link

listening now (to refresh my memory), the last song is this awesome repeating guitar(?) drone that leads into a space guitar solo and all i can say is i don't really need it to end anytime soon. (actually more krautrock-y than hawkwind-y)

Scott you need to check out his old band http://www.last.fm/music/Living+Science+Foundation

speaking of impossible to find beta-lactam CDRs, and cuz i don't feel like reviving the dronepsych thread, i just got two fonal reissues of impossible to find tomutonto/tomutonttu releases. dude from kemialliset. they are fun! and funny. and crazy. and well worth owning.

five months pass...

"corridors to infinity" was so fucking good, easily in my top 5 albums of the year

not that crazy about the new one ("sonic messenger"), fancy packaging aside, but the bonus disc that comes with it ("infinite macrocosm") is pretty special.

xpost Obviously not entirely missed it given my post above, but really had slipped my mind.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 18 June 2018 22:04 (five years ago) link

Yeah Justin was a great interview, very deliberate and thoughtful about his memories and explanations. He clearly doesn't simply toss stuff off just because.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 18 June 2018 22:04 (five years ago) link

damn i thought this was a thread for expo 80, i've been looking for their record for years
