what are some good contemporary baroque pop bands. I dont really keep up listening to new-er stuff these days and don't have a clue. Stuff like left banke? intricate but solid songwriting? no schticks?

Jens Lekman, definitely. Even samples Left Banke's 'something on my mind' on Black Cab so might be just up your alley if you still haven't listened to him, which I'm assuming you have.

Also heard good things about Florence and the Machine Lungs new album but haven't really heard it.

Sorry, that's Florence and the Machine and album is called Lungs. "Cosmic love" is on Hypem's most popular tracks right now... sounding good so far yet asides the use of a harp can't really say it could be categorized as baroque pop.

Just saw yesterday that there's a new Plush album due late Sept or something, hoping it will make everything mentioned so far look like some shite
