C90: Summer Rock And Roll

I'm currently listening to "I Fought The Law" by the Bobby Fuller Four, and apart from realising that Bobby Fuller's death was easily the one that has cost rock music the most over the past 50 years, it put me in the mind of Eddie Cochran's "Summertime Blues". They have that summertime feel, old school proper rock and rock, the sort that seems to have been wiped from history, Duane Eddy style guitar, straight up beat comboness.

So I wanna make myself a compilation. Care to suggest any other songs, preferably pre 1967, that fit in with that whole feel?

Maow - Ms. Lefevre. Not before 67, but very smashing.

Red River Rock, Just Like Eddie & Wonderful Land all spring to mind for some reason...or just watch the film That'll Be the Day & note the soundtrack.

some of these are really obvious but they rule so i can't leave them out
California sun - riverieras (or alternate "Rockin Robin")
96 tear -? and mysterians
Luci Bains - the american 4
summertime usa - the pixies 3
look of love - lesley gore (or alternately by the all girl summer fun band)
linda - Jan and Dean (a pre-surf number but totally summer)
see you in september - the happenings
king of the surf - the trashmen (or almost any song from their first album)
Heat wave - martha reeves (or better yet this crazy sweedish version on Filles dans la garage comp.)
That's cool that's trash - Kingsmen
Hang on Sloopy - mccoys or gentrys (both credible versions)
sweet soul music - arthur connely
splish splash - ceasar et les romains (but not bobby darin)
i want love - the individuals
mother in law - ernie k doe (or any mint r+b number)
sammy the sidewalk surfer - surfettes
surfing is the only life for me - truants or beach boys
lots more VOCAL surf, be sure to include only 1 max instrument surf song per side. mine would be
sukiyaki - ventures (okay not really surf but no one will notice)
theme from endless summer - sandals
there are about a million more if it was post 60's the sad but true essentials would be:
cold beverage - g love and special sauce
all the things... - sugar ray (or any song- they all sound the same)
can't get enough of you baby - smash mouth (again, any song would do except that horrible monkey's cover- i prefer ? covers)
