one year passes...
Rather than starting another thread about Suede, I thought I'd revive this one.

Why?

Cos of this, that's why.

(Suede to play five gigs over six days, one complete album per gig, in September, as an oblique plug for their imminent singles comp)

So...is this a good idea? Which one/s would you go to? And more to the point, what makes them think more than 6 people are gonna bother going to the A New Morning gig?

I'm well up for the Monday & Tuesday, at any rate.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 09:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Surely I'm not the only person here remotely interested in this concept/the band?

C'mon, class of '93 indie scumbags, step to it!

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 10:51 (twenty-two years ago)

yep. gig of the year the first night will be if bernard shows up.

piscesboy, Tuesday, 12 August 2003 10:59 (twenty-two years ago)

A snowball will be seen in hell first. I do like the idea of all this, though.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

a suede gig where they play only stuff from "a new morning" is a terrible idea! 99.9999% of people going to a suede gig are going to hear the classic singles off the first three records.

the first three nights would be fun, though. and "head music" should be cool enough - songs like "elephant man" work a lot better live, too. will there be strings for the dog man star night?

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I would go to the first three in a heartbeat! Though if I had to choose I would go the DudeManDude night. Though Ned would disagree I still think it is their finest moment.

well i'd have thought so too until the 20th of september last year

i mean if it was to *ever* happen...

piscesboy, Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:12 (twenty-two years ago)

fuck me this is the most exciting thing ever!!! i thought after the horror of glasto i'd never bother with them again, but i'm so, so going to the dog man star and prob the first one too.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

will there be strings for the dog man star night?

...is the most crucial question in all of this.

And if Bernard shows...fucking hell. But he won't. So let's not torture ourselves.

Mind you, re-reading that NME piece - my heart skipped when I first read it - what if he does? He wouldn't, would he? Gah...

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know, Charlie. I had read a couple of interview around the time the last McAlmont and Butler album where he sounded regretful about leaving the band.

Larcole (Nicole), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

...is the most crucial question in all of this.

Quite. Much as I loved the "Still Life" acoustic version live, imagine a full orchestral version live. Oh man.

Would Bernard swallow his pride that much? Hm.

The prospect of hearing the first six songs off Coming Up slamming through one after another live is severe temptation in particular. But alas, I can't visit until October...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I know, Nicole - that's what that NME link was! And I remember.

So, shall we start the campaign for "Still Life" with Bernard, a full orchestra *and* a Brett/David McAlmont duet? *swoon*

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

To dream the impossible dream!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

If there was a good chance of this happening I would go in a heartbeat. And I thought I had finally gotten over being a Suede fan, damn...

Larcole (Nicole), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

They keep PULLING YOU BACK IN!

this tho really will be the final nail. a way of sayin ta-ra
without the bad memories.
